Two Board Members Aimed at Commercialization

Lucent Bio has appointed Kim Nicholson and Bill Wilford to its Board of Directors.

The appointments are targeted. The agronomic case for Soileos is established. What comes next is commercial: reaching the retailers, distributors and agronomists who influence what goes on the acre. Both appointments speak to that directly.

Kim Nicholson: Connecting Innovation to Market

Kim Nicholson brings nearly four decades in agribusiness, agritech and crop nutrition. From 2019 to 2024 she was Vice President of Ag Technology and Innovation at The Mosaic Company, where she led the Center of Expertise for ag technology and contributed to the development of Mosaic Biosciences. Before that she spent a decade as President of NFocus Partners, an agribusiness management consulting firm she co-founded. She has also served as Vice President of Business Development at precision agriculture startup Spensa Technologies and CEO of specialty fertilizer company Accelegrow Technologies. She holds a BSc in Soil and Crop Science from Purdue University.

What that adds: direct experience taking new nutrition technology from concept through the commercial structure of a major fertilizer company, which is the transition Soileos is making now.

Bill Wilford: The Western Canadian Channel

Bill Wilford has more than ten years of senior leadership in the Western Canadian crop inputs and fertilizer industry. From 2021 to 2024 he was General Manager of Crop Production for Western Canada at Sollio Agriculture, following six years as General Manager of Agrico Canada L.P. before its integration into Sollio. Earlier he was Fertilizer Marketing Manager at Cargill. His background is in fertilizer distribution, marketing and channel management across the Prairies, supported by an established network in Western Canadian agricultural retail. He holds a BSc in Agriculture from the University of Guelph.

What that adds: a working understanding of how product moves through Prairie retail, and the relationships to shorten that path.

Both appointments come from commercialization and distribution rather than research, which is where Lucent Bio’s work is now concentrated.

Both will contribute to Lucent Bio’s commercial strategy for Soileos as it scales across North American markets.
